I’m told that “rivel is German for “crum”. This is an Amish recipe. Good when finished, even better to nibble at while mixing!
Rivel Pie
1 cup flour
½ cup sugar
½ cup butter and shorting, mixed
2 T. molasses
Mix or “crumb” the above ingredients together with your
hands to form small lumps or rivels. Put
rivels into prepared pastry shell.
Spread top with molasses. Bake in
a hot oven (400) for 30 minutes.
